Hay momentos que marcan un antes y un después en una trayectoria. La llegada de Miguel Ángel Rojas al Museo Reina Sofía de Madrid es uno de ellos. Con La noche, una exposición que recorre más de cinco décadas de creación, uno de los artistas más influyentes del arte contemporáneo latinoamericano ocupa un lugar destacado en la programación de una de las grandes instituciones del arte moderno y contemporáneo. A este acontecimiento se suma su presentación individual en Paris Photo, llevando la obra del maestro a nuevos escenarios internacionales.

 

There are moments that mark a turning point in an artist’s career. Miguel Ángel Rojas’s arrival at Madrid’s Museo Reina Sofía is one of them. With La noche, an exhibition spanning more than five decades of artistic creation, one of the leading figures in contemporary Latin American art takes a prominent place in the program of one of the great institutions devoted to modern and contemporary art. This milestone is accompanied by his solo presentation at Paris Photo, bringing the master’s work to new international stages.

From desire to violence, from intimacy to collective memory, Miguel Ángel Rojas has built a body of work that interrogates history from its margins and reveals what so often remains hidden. La noche offers a new opportunity to encounter an artistic vision that has never ceased to question, move, and transform our understanding of reality.

En una presentación individual, La Cometa reúne un conjunto excepcional de fotografías, en gran parte inéditas, tomadas por Rojas en los teatros bogotanos durante los años setenta. Imágenes de encuentros clandestinos y deseos silenciados que recuperan una memoria fundamental y conservan intacta la audacia de quien se atrevió a mirar donde otros no miraban..

 

In a solo presentation, La Cometa brings together an exceptional selection of photographs, many of them previously unseen, taken by Rojas in Bogotá’s cinemas during the 1970s. Images of clandestine encounters and silenced desires recover an essential part of our memory and preserve the audacity of an artist who dared to look where others did not.
