El artista colombiano Carlos Castro (Bogotá, 1976) presenta Paisaje Desviado, una exposición que revisita los grabados realizados por viajeros europeos que recorrieron Colombia entre los siglos XVIII y XIX. A partir de estas imágenes históricas, Castro desarrolla una serie de pinturas que combinan dibujo, figuración y abstracción, alterando y desplazando las representaciones originales para abrir nuevas lecturas sobre el paisaje, la memoria y la construcción de la historia.
Las obras cuestionan las narrativas que han definido nuestra relación con el territorio y la naturaleza, transformando el paisaje en un espacio donde convergen archivo, imaginación y reflexión crítica. En este diálogo entre pasado y presente, Castro nos invita a reconsiderar las imágenes que heredamos y las formas en que estas continúan modelando nuestra mirada.
Colombian artist Carlos Castro (Bogotá, 1976) presents Paisaje Desviado, an exhibition that revisits the engravings created by European travelers who explored Colombia between the 18th and 19th centuries. Drawing on these historical images, Castro creates a series of paintings that combine drawing, figuration, and abstraction, altering and shifting the original representations to open up new interpretations of landscape, memory, and the construction of history.
The works challenge the narratives that have defined our relationship with the territory and nature, transforming the landscape into a space where archive, imagination, and critical reflection converge. In this dialogue between past and present, Castro invites us to reconsider the images we have inherited and the ways in which they continue to shape our perspective.
