Para entrar en la materia, hay que trazar una línea. Mantenerla recta. Avanzar sin ruido. Corregir a tiempo, limpiar lo que sobra, evitar que algo se acumule y desvíe el curso.
Eso es lo que se intenta.
Pero la materia nunca es completamente dócil. Se desplaza, se agrieta, empuja. Lo que parecía bajo control empieza a exigir ajustes constantes: contener, rectificar, volver a pasar. Insistir.
“De ruidos, desbordes y otras fricciones” se sitúa en ese punto: cuando la pintura deja de afirmarse como superficie y se convierte en un proceso que ocurre en el espacio, con peso, con tiempo, con resistencia.
En el trabajo de Verónica Lehner, pintar no es fijar una imagen sino sostener una relación inestable entre gesto y material. El pigmento cae, se acumula, se transforma; la imagen, si aparece, es apenas un momento dentro de ese proceso.
Las obras no buscan resolverse. Se mantienen en tensión. Registran lo que pasa cuando algo intenta organizarse y, al mismo tiempo, se desborda.

To enter matter, you begin by drawing a line. Keep it straight. Move forward without noise. Correct in time, clean what remains, prevent anything from building up and diverting its course.
That is the attempt.
But matter is never fully docile. It shifts, cracks, pushes back. What seemed under control starts to demand constant adjustments: contain, rectify, go over it again. Insist.
“De ruidos, desbordes y otras fricciones” sits precisely at that point: when painting stops asserting itself as a surface and becomes a process unfolding in space—carrying weight, time, and resistance.
In Verónica Lehner’s work, painting is not about fixing an image but about sustaining an unstable relationship between gesture and material. Pigment falls, accumulates, transforms; the image, if it appears at all, is only a fleeting moment within that process.
The works do not seek resolution. They hold tension. They register what happens when something tries to organize itself and, at the same time, spills over.

Verónica Lehner (Cali, 1980) ha construido una práctica sólida entre Colombia y Europa, moviéndose entre la pintura, la escultura y la intervención espacial. Su trabajo ha sido presentado en espacios como el Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO), Espacio Odeón y Mommsen Galerie en Berlín, entre otros, y hace parte de colecciones como el Banco de la República y el Musée FRAC Pays de la Loire en Francia.
Verónica Lehner (Cali, 1980) has developed a strong practice between Colombia and Europe, working across painting, sculpture, and spatial intervention. Her work has been presented at institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá (MAMBO), Espacio Odeón, and Mommsen Galerie in Berlin, among others, and is part of collections including Banco de la República and the Musée FRAC Pays de la Loire in France.
