Elogio de la sombra
Según el filósofo francés Régis Debray, Leon Battista Alberti recomendaba contemplar pinturas de cascadas y fuentes como remedio para la fiebre o el insomnio, creyendo en el poder de la imagen para conservar la esencia de lo representado. Con el tiempo, esta fe en la imagen se ha desvanecido, y la pintura ha pasado de símbolo a mero signo. En esta exposición, Adam Goldstein busca recuperar la profundidad y trascendencia de la pintura mediante la materialidad y el artificio. Sus pinturas al óleo, combinados con terrarios y juegos de luz, evocan una conexión con la naturaleza, explorando el umbral entre la representación y la experiencia.

According to French philosopher Régis Debray, Leon Battista Alberti recommended contemplating paintings of waterfalls and fountains as a remedy for fever or insomnia, believing in the power of the image to preserve the essence of what it represents. Over time, this faith in the image has faded, and painting has shifted from symbol to mere sign. In this exhibition, Adam Goldstein seeks to restore the depth and transcendence of painting through materiality and artifice. His oil paintings, combined with terrariums and light play, evoke a connection with nature, exploring the threshold between representation and experience.

MUQU
A través de esta muestra, Fernando Pinto reflexiona sobre la condición humana y su desconexión con lo esencial en un mundo moderno. Inspirada en la palabra MUQU, de origen quechua y cuyo significado es «semilla», la exposición transforma este elemento en un símbolo de vida, adaptación y resiliencia, resaltando la tensión entre el orden y la espontaneidad en la naturaleza.
Mediante la recolección y observación de semillas en Colombia, el artista cuestiona la relación entre la abundancia natural y el control humano, confrontando la generosidad de la vida con la lógica de su limitación. MUQU es un acto de fe en la renovación, una metáfora del migrante que lleva consigo su origen y la esperanza de un nuevo comienzo.

Through this exhibition, Fernando Pinto reflects on the human condition and its disconnection from the essential in the modern world. Inspired by the Quechua word MUQU, meaning «seed,» the exhibition transforms this element into a symbol of life, adaptation, and resilience, highlighting the tension between order and spontaneity in nature.
Through the collection and observation of seeds in Colombia, the artist questions the relationship between natural abundance and human control, confronting life’s generosity with the logic of its limitation. MUQU is an act of faith in renewal, a metaphor for the migrant who carries their origins and the hope of a new beginning.

Dialéctica Decorativa
En este nuevo cuerpo de trabajo, Alejandro Sánchez explora la tensión entre memoria y olvido a través del desplazamiento de objetos simbólicos por nuevas tendencias en la moda. Inspirado en la práctica de coleccionar y el juego, evoca elementos decorativos (porcelanas) icónicos de la clase media bogotana en los años 50, el artista establece un diálogo con la arquitectura funcional de la época y las estructuras modulares de juego, como el armotodo.
Utilizando resina pigmentada con óleo, un material recurrente en su obra, logra una riqueza tonal que potencia la intención fantasmagórica que sugiere, generando una sensación de presencia y ausencia simultánea.

In this new body of work, Alejandro Sánchez explores the tension between memory and oblivion through the displacement of symbolic objects by new trends in fashion. Inspired by the practice of collecting and playing, he evokes decorative elements (porcelains) iconic to the Bogotá middle class in the 1950s, establishing a dialogue with the functional architecture of the time and modular play structures like the armotodo.
Using resin pigmented with oil paint, a material recurring in his work, he achieves a tonal richness that enhances the ghostly intent suggested, creating a simultaneous sense of presence and absence.

Por medio de sus pinturas e instalaciones, Carlos Castro presenta una nueva serie de obras que exploran la apropiación y transformación de imágenes. Recientemente exhibidas en la Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, el proyecto combina fotografías, capturas de pantalla de redes sociales y referencias a la historia del arte en collages visuales que funcionan como mapas mentales.
Utilizando la madera tanto como soporte pictórico como elemento estructural, Carlos Castro crea una instalación inmersiva que resalta la materialidad de la pintura. Alejándose de sus proyectos colaborativos anteriores, esta serie está completamente hecha a mano, enfatizando la artesanía manual como una forma de reflexión personal.
Through his paintings and installations, Carlos Castro presents a new series of works that explore the appropriation and transformation of images. Recently exhibited at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, the project combines photographs, social media screenshots, and references to art history into visual collages that function as mental maps.
Using wood as both a pictorial support and a structural element, Carlos Castro creates an immersive installation that highlights the materiality of painting. Departing from his previous collaborative projects, this series is entirely handcrafted, emphasizing manual craftsmanship as a form of personal reflection.
