Dialéctica Decorativa
En este nuevo cuerpo de trabajo, Alejandro Sánchez profundiza en la tensión entre memoria y olvido, explorando cómo el auge de nuevas tendencias en la moda desplaza y transforma recuerdos materiales y estéticos. A través de este nuevo proyecto plástico, Sánchez evoca Porcelanas de personajes a pequeña escala, elementos decorativos emblemáticos de la clase media bogotana en los años 50. Estas piezas, se integran con unas coloridas estructuras metálicas, que se vinculan con la arquitectura funcional de la época y con estructuras modulares tipo armotodo, estableciendo un vínculo entre juego, ornamentación y funcionalidad.
El uso de la resina, pigmentada con óleo, un material recurrente en la obra de Sánchez, permite una riqueza tonal que potencia la cualidad espectral de las porcelanas en estos cubos. Su apariencia fantasmagórica sugiere un espacio intermedio entre presencia y ausencia, entre lo tangible y lo efímero.
En esta serie, el artista alude al minimalismo de Judd y al neoplasticismo de Mondrian, creando composiciones que equilibran rigor geométrico y carga conceptual. A su vez, continúa la exploración de la economía y el consumismo, temas centrales en su obra, evidenciando cómo los objetos cotidianos pueden convertirse en testigos de sistemas de producción y consumo.
El término «dialéctica» adquiere aquí un peso simbólico, encapsulando la confrontación entre tradición y modernidad, materialidad y desvanecimiento, juego y estructura. Con este proyecto, Alejandro Sánchez no solo revisita la historia visual y material de una época, sino que la reconfigura en un nuevo sistema de estimulación sensorial.
In this new body of work, Alejandro Sánchez delves into the tension between memory and forgetfulness, exploring how the rise of new trends in fashion displaces and transforms material and aesthetic memories. Through this new artistic project, Sánchez evokes small-scale porcelain figures of characters, iconic decorative elements of the middle-class Bogotá in the 1950s. These pieces are integrated with colorful metal structures, which are linked to the functional architecture of the time and modular structures similar to «armotodo» (a type of modular furniture), establishing a connection between play, ornamentation, and functionality.
The use of resin, pigmented with oil paint, a recurring material in Sánchez’s work, allows for tonal richness that enhances the spectral quality of the porcelains in these cubes. Their ghostly appearance suggests an intermediate space between presence and absence, between the tangible and the ephemeral.
In this series, the artist alludes to the minimalism of Judd and the neoplasticism of Mondrian, creating compositions that balance geometric rigor and conceptual weight. At the same time, he continues exploring themes of economy and consumerism, central to his work, highlighting how everyday objects can become witnesses to systems of production and consumption.
The term «dialectic» takes on symbolic weight here, encapsulating the confrontation between tradition and modernity, materiality and fading, play and structure. With this project, Alejandro Sánchez not only revisits the visual and material history of an era but reconfigures it into a new system of sensory stimulation.

La Cometa y La Sala de Arte Bancolombia les invitan a participar en la conversación ‘Ana González, una mirada sobre el cuidado del territorio desde el arte’, como evento de cierre de la exposición Llovizna.
En esta ocasión, contaremos con la participación del Director Artístico del MAMBO, Eugenio Viola, y el curador de la exposición, Rafael Londoño. Junto a ellos, revisaremos el trabajo de algunos artistas de la colección y su mirada crítica sobre la explotación de la naturaleza, para culminar con el análisis de las preocupaciones y temas presentes en el cuerpo de trabajo de Ana González.
La Cometa and La Sala de Arte Bancolombia invite you to join the panel ‘Ana González, una mirada sobre el cuidado del territorio desde el arte’, as the closing event of the exhibition Llovizna.
On this occasion, we will be joined by the Artistic Director of MAMBO, Eugenio Viola, and the exhibition curator, Rafael Londoño. Together, we will explore the work of selected artists from the collection and their critical perspectives on the exploitation of nature, concluding with an analysis of the concerns and themes present in Ana González’s body of work.

El concierto se llevará a cabo en el marco de la nueva exposición de Carlos Castro-Arias, The Eye in the Splinter, donde el artista colombiano presenta una serie que explora el poder de las imágenes. Sus obras fusionan pintura y escultura e instalación.

A través de pinturas e instalaciones, Carlos Castro presenta una nueva serie que explora la apropiación y transformación de imágenes. Recientemente exhibido en la Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, el proyecto combina fotografías, capturas de pantalla de redes sociales y referencias a la historia del arte en collages visuales que funcionan como mapas mentales.
Utilizando la madera tanto como soporte pictórico como elemento estructural, Castro crea una instalación inmersiva que resalta la materialidad de la pintura. Alejándose de sus proyectos colaborativos anteriores, esta serie completamente hecha a mano enfatiza la artesanía como una forma de reflexión personal.
Through paintings and installations, Carlos Castro presents a new series exploring the appropriation and transformation of images. Recently exhibited at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, the project blends photographs, social media screenshots, and art history references into visual collages resembling mental maps.
Using wood as both a pictorial surface and structural element, Castro creates an immersive installation that highlights the materiality of painting. Departing from his previous collaborative projects, this entirely handmade series emphasizes craftsmanship as a form of personal reflection.

Llovizna
La Cometa Madrid inaugura Llovizna de Ana González donde la artista presenta una serie de pinturas y piezas textiles que capturan la esencia de la flora y fauna colombiana. A través de su obra, Ana González retrata ecosistemas en peligro debido a la explotación indiscriminada de sus recursos naturales, denunciando su destrucción y, al mismo tiempo, proponiendo nuevas formas de relacionarnos con la naturaleza.
En diálogo con la exposición, Llovizna incluye un texto del etnobotánico y antropólogo Wade Davis, quien reflexiona sobre la transformación del río Bogotá, que nace puro en las alturas andinas pero se convierte en un flujo contaminado al atravesar la capital. Su relato contrasta la visión moderna de explotación y abandono con la cosmovisión de las culturas indígenas, para quienes los ríos son sagrados y fundamentales en el equilibrio entre lo humano y lo divino. En este contexto, la obra de Ana González se erige como un llamado a la conciencia, una invitación a repensar nuestra relación con el entorno natural y a valorar la interconexión entre la historia, la ecología y la espiritualidad.
La Cometa Madrid presents Llovizna by Ana González where the artist showcases a series of paintings and textile pieces that capture the essence of Colombia’s flora and fauna. Through her work, González portrays ecosystems at risk due to the indiscriminate exploitation of their natural resources, denouncing their destruction while simultaneously proposing new ways to relate to nature.
In dialogue with the exhibition, Llovizna includes a text by Ethnobotanist and Anthropologist Wade Davis, who reflects on the transformation of the Bogotá River, which originates pure in the Andean highlands but becomes a contaminated flow as it passes through the capital. His narrative contrasts the modern vision of exploitation and neglect with the worldview of Indigenous cultures, for whom rivers are sacred and fundamental to the balance between the human and the divine. In this context, González’s work stands as a call to awareness, an invitation to rethink our relationship with the natural world and to recognize the interconnectedness of history, ecology, and spirituality.
