En ocasión de celebrar los 94 años del multifacético artista Abilio Padrón, la Galería Blasini Morrison en Caracas, presenta una exposición retrospectiva titulada: “De lo Estático a lo Dinámico”. La muestra está acompañada de un homenaje especial realizado por un grupo de artistas amigos bajo el título “Entre Nosotros y Abilio”, donde destacados creadores como Régulo Pérez, Pavel Bastidas, Ibrahim Nebreda y María Valbuena comparten su visión sobre Abilio a través de dibujos y pinturas.
Celebrar los 94 años de un amigo tan querido, aunque sea desde la distancia, es un privilegio único, especialmente tratándose de alguien cuya vida ha sido siempre un ejemplo de pasión, talento y generosidad. He tenido la fortuna de conocer a Abilio desde hace casi 50 años, y en todo este tiempo he sido testigo de su extraordinaria trayectoria como artista plástico, dibujante, caricaturista e ilustrador. Su talento dejó una huella imborrable en múltiples ámbitos, como en los libros infantiles “Qué será, qué no será” y “Tun Tun, ¿quién es?”, textos que acompañaron a mis hijas durante su crecimiento.
Además de ser un artista excepcional, Abilio es un maestro de dibujo incomparable. Su paciencia y claridad para enseñar los misterios del arte lo convirtieron en un guía insustituible para sus alumnos. A quienes no se limitaba a enseñar técnica; sino que transmitía una comprensión más profunda del arte, inspirando a quienes tuvieron el privilegio de aprender de él.
Otra de sus grandes pasiones es el cine, una fuente inagotable de inspiración para su espíritu creativo. En cada conversación sobre una película, Abilio desmenuzaba la narrativa visual con una habilidad única, encontrando en el séptimo arte no solo una fuente de enriquecimiento para su obra, sino también una forma de compartir reflexiones profundas.
Lo que más admiro de Abilio, más allá de su destacada trayectoria artística, es su vitalidad y compromiso. Su dedicación constante, ya sea a través de sus dibujos, sus clases o sus inolvidables conversaciones, es un recordatorio de que el arte y el conocimiento son puentes que nos mantienen jóvenes de espíritu.
Hoy, al celebrar su vida, quiero rendir homenaje no solo al artista y al maestro, sino al amigo entrañable. Celebrating the 94th birthday of such a dear friend, even from afar, is a unique privilege, especially when it involves someone whose life has always been an example of passion, talent, and generosity. I have had the fortune of knowing Abilio for almost 50 years, and during this time, I have witnessed his extraordinary career as a visual artist, as a draftsman, cartoonist, and illustrator. His talent has left an indelible mark in many fields, including children’s books like “What Will Be, What Will Not Be” and “Knock Knock, Who’s There?”—works that accompanied my daughters as they grew up.
In addition to being an exceptional artist, Abilio is an unparalleled drawing teacher. His patience and clarity in teaching the mysteries of art made him an invaluable guide for his students. He would go beyond teaching technique; to impart them a deeper understanding of art, inspiring all who have had the privilege of learning from him.
Another of his great passions is cinema, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for his creative spirit. In every conversation about a film, Abilio would skillfully dissect the visual narrative, finding in the seventh art not only a source of enrichment for his own work but also a way to share profound reflections.
What I admire most about Abilio, beyond his remarkable artistic career, is his vitality and commitment. His unwavering dedication—whether through his drawings, his classes, or his unforgettable conversations—serves as a reminder that art and knowledge are bridges that keep our spirit young.
Today, as we celebrate his life, I want to pay tribute not only to the artist and the teacher but also to the dear friend. I invite everyone in Caracas to visit his exhibition at the Galería Blasini Morrison, where they can explore his vast and rich artistic production—a true testament to his talent and creativity. Although I will not be able to attend this time, from afar, I celebrate his life and work with profound gratitude for all he has meant to those of us who have been privileged to know him.
